[asobu tutorial #3] Japanese/English vocabulary to use when posting your game trailer on Youtube
Hi everyone,
A few weeks ago we published two articles in Japanese about “How to efficiently upload your indie game trailer on Youtube”, to help Japanese indie developers.
The first article was providing a quick Japanese/English vocabulary list of phrases developers can use for their trailer's title and description.
We figured that many non-Japanese developers would also be interested to know those Japanese expressions so here is the list!

Remarks:
1. Japanese people tend to use the expression “Promotion video” or “PV” for trailers. You can use it too or just use “Trailer”.
2. If you need to know the genre of your game in Japanese, we advise checking on Wikipedia (Go to the page in English, then switch to Japanese) or looking for similar games and their Japanese page. Some game genres don’t have the same name in Japanese. Ex: Grappling hook game: “Wire Action”, Horizontal Beat them up: “Belt Action”, Tactical RPG: “Strategy RPG/SRPG”,…
3. Dates: Japanese dates always go: Year/Month/Day. Abbreviations like Q1 don’t relate. Put a season or the date.
4. If you need some extra text, usually DeepL does a better job than Google Translation for ENG>JP
5. You can set up the video settings so the language of the title/description will change depending on the region of the viewers (that was our second article). Don’t hesitate to do it in various languages.
If you have other questions, feel free to come and ask on asobu’s Discord server or Twitter.
